  1. •    I’ve got a new split EP out with my tender comrade Andrzej Stepien, it’s called “Clowns To The Right Of Us, Jokers To The Right Of Us” and it’s available to buy and download for free from the Music Etc section of the site.
  2. •    Alas, several members of my wonderful backing band ‘The Dole Queue’ are going to be leaving me soon.  This is because I’ll be dedicating much more time to music as soon as the summer comes and they won’t be able to put the time in, they’ll be ready getting famous with their other project The Black Velvet Band.  Thing is, now I need more musicians - Are you based near Manchester?  Do you play the bass?  Banjo?  Fiddle?  Any other instrument I might be interested in?  Email Me!

Welcome to my home on the t’interweb.  I’m Al Baker and I like to write songs and then sing them to people.  I also like Doctor Who, comic books, punk shows, detective TV shows and record shopping.  This website deals mainly with the first thing though.  People describe my music in lots of ways, usually involving the words ‘folk’ and ‘political’ - I call it ‘Troubacore’, but that’s because I also like stupid jokes and puns.
